Webex Calling: A Cloud-Calling Game Changer

/ by ATSG

  • Cisco Webex Calling builds on a foundation of technological features offering calling, meetings, collaboration tools, and devices for businesses.
  • With a massive installed user base of business cloud calling, Cisco is poised to again take more market share.
  • ShoreGroup Solutions is one of just 19 US-based partners given the go-ahead to sell Webex Calling.

[Update: ShoreGroup Solutions was acquired by ATSG in November 2019]

Cisco’s business cloud calling reach is galactic. This is evidenced by more than 29 million users worldwide. As a comparison, their users top the population of Texas by a few hundred thousand. That stands as a Lone Star State-sized testament to the efficacy of Cisco’s platform. And those large numbers are not the product of chance. Rather, they’re the result of the company’s savvy, detailed approach to developing the most comprehensive service on the market. Cisco’s cloud calling success also includes reliance on partnerships with top-notch vendors to ensure the highest levels of customer satisfaction.

Cisco Webex Continually Innovating

While competitors scramble, Cisco is racing farther ahead of the pack. The company recently unveiled artificial intelligence features aimed at simplifying Webex meetings. One powerful new feature is People Insights. People Insights creates individual and organizational profiles saving participants time combing the web themselves for information. These profiles refresh automatically and cover more than 250 million people and 20 million companies. It’s one of a string of new features.

“This technology is going to fundamentally change how we are able to deliver massively personalized experiences and transform how we work,” Amy Chang, Cisco vice president of collaboration, said in a keynote speech at the Enterprise Connect conference in Orlando, Florida.

Cisco Webex Calling Builds on Robust Platform

Technological advances build on a foundation that already is the industry’s broadest. Fueled by the market’s top cloud platform, Cisco Webex Calling offers a complete suite of calling, meetings, teams, and contact centers with integrated devices and service seamlessly reaching across national borders and around the world. Every market segment is covered—from micros to major enterprises. No wonder Cisco is carrying a 57 percent share of the cloud calling and unified communications market.

Blending the Cisco BroadCloud and Webex, Webex Calling delivers a level of integration unmatched in the industry. Only Cisco’s Webex Calling meshes enterprise cloud calling with Webex Teams, Meetings, and device portfolios. Webex Calling will be available March 31 in the U.S. and will reach more than 35 countries in North America, Europe, Australia, New Zealand, and Japan by year’s end.

ShoreGroup on Short List to Offer Webex Calling

Among only 19 US-based partners named by Cisco to exclusively offer WebEx Calling is ShoreGroup Solutions. Cisco sees ShoreGroup as a leading vendor who has the ability to understand and satisfy customer needs. ShoreGroup also carries Cisco’s coveted Master Collaboration Specialization. This expertise will prove critical to the next wave of customers moving to cloud calling.

Indeed, as the digital transformation expands, Webex Calling figures to be transformative. Larger businesses have shied from the Cloud. Just 8 percent of companies with 100 or more users have ventured into cloud calling compared to 25 percent of companies with fewer than 100 users. Security along with functionality and reliability were leading concerns. Webex Calling wipes those away.

Where ostensible cons once gave companies pause, clear pros will drive them to Webex Calling:

Global reach. Webex Calling offers geo-redundant data centers in every region of the world and availability in 36 countries. Regional and multinational companies requiring communications that deliver every time, all the time will find Webex Calling provides the kind of global footprint no other service can equal.

High-level security. End-to-end encryption protects every word spoken, typed, and shared in the WebEx Calling system. This covers messages, documents, and whiteboard drawings sent from one device to another. Searches are encrypted, too, giving users the ability to dig up vital information beyond watch of outside eyes. Spaces can be locked down to allow essential players in while keeping others out.

Full support. Covering full enterprise PBX, or private branch exchange, along with hybrids, local gateways, and service partnerships, Cisco is a powerful force to be reckoned with. They not only ensure their customers have the tools they need, but they also provide the backing to deliver satisfaction and enlists leading vendors to deliver excellence in service.

Far-reaching flexibility. Options to connect with PSTNs or public switched telephone networks, through local gateways abound. This will allow customers to utilize existing connections while making the move to the Cloud. Under the Cisco Collaboration Flex Plan, customers can scale their transition to match their desired pace.

Clear migration path. Webex Calling offers an enterprise-ready PBX replacement, and it can serve either a complete transition to the Cloud or a hybrid model. This allows companies to smoothly switch on-premise licenses, phones, video, and PSTN connections. Working with IT teams as well as managed service providers, Cisco can remove bumps from the transition before they are encountered.

The big question is not whether companies will move to cloud calling but when. One provider stands apart from the others in its ability to make that change work.
